The sale of services by
so-called "missions
internationalists" of Cuba,
including health services
and doctors, but also services of
teaching, marines,
engineering, art, music and
architecture, is the largest
foreign currency entry of
Cuban government.
The income they generate is the
main source of income for
the Cuban government abroad
at least since 2005. In 2018 it accounted for between 40% and 50% of its balance of
payments abroad.
